The Giving Tree Appeal 2010

The Giving Tree Appeal 2010

TRAC Donates Towards The Giving Tree Appeal

Over the past few years during the festive period TRAC office staff have taken part in ‘The Giving Tree Appeal.’ After previous successful years it was decided to take part and donate again in 2010.

‘The Giving Tree’ is an appeal by local Aberdeen charity Instant Neighbour. They believe children that are less fortunate deserve a Happy Christmas, and to do this they donate new toys and gifts to families on low incomes across the region and hand deliver these presents.

The Giving Tree appeal has gathered more and more support over the years and has become a great success. Encouragingly many oil and gas operators, service companies (including TRAC) and others get involved by sponsoring or donating gifts towards the worthy cause.

TRAC office staff hope to put a smile on some faces this Christmas and will be supporting the charity again next year.

New Appointments at TRAC Oil & Gas

TRAC appoints Paul Stephen as Operations Manager & Tommy Van Huuksloot as Shutdown Co-ordinator

Tommy Van Huuksloot started with TRAC as Shutdown Coordinator in June to assist with an upcoming shutdown project. ‘Shutdowns’ typically involve large numbers and rotations of personnel and require strong management, capability and planning skills. Adding to the TRAC team, Tommy was formerly with Cape and MB Inspection as Rope Access Manager.

Following a recent restructure Paul Stephen has now been appointed as Operations Manager for TRAC. A Project Engineer and Manager with us since 2004 and a field operative prior to that, Paul brings an encouraging mix of field experience and strong management and leadership skills to this newly appointed role. Paul is now responsible for overseeing TRAC’s service offering and maintaining our core values of Service, Safety, Quality and Innovation for our clients.

Flange Face Corrosion

Practical flange face and corrosion mapping Inspection demonstration

Due to an industry shortfall TRAC held a demonstration of the latest phased array technology for the inspection of in-service flange faces on process pipe work.

Flange face inspection is a current industry ‘hot’ topic due to the number of associated failures occurring in this area.

Phased Array technology provides a reliable and robust inspection method for this application, allowing better accuracy, repeatability, permanent records and time savings over conventional UT methods.

Our customers were invited to view the demonstration and get ‘hands-on’ with the Omniscan Phased Array equipment supplied by Olympus NDT.

Stuart Ley, TRAC’s Inspection Manager explained:

“The method of non-intrusive inspection addresses a major industry shortfall. We have developed processes and invested in our staff and equipment to deliver a robust flange face corrosion solution for our customers.”
