The 28-year-old grew up playing on the courts at Aberdeen Squash & Racketball Club and is thrilled the club is hosting its first ever Women’s PSA World Tour event. “Yes I won a couple of tournaments last year but to win a $5k event in Aberdeen would be the best win out the three. “It’s the club where I grew up and having my friends and family coming to watch will be brilliant.” She continued: “By the end of March, Scotland will have hosted two PSA World Tour events this year which I can’t ever recall before. “It’s great for women’s squash in Scotland and the organisers of this year’s TRAC Oil & Gas North of Scotland Open have done a great job getting a PSA women’s event to Aberdeen.” Guaranteed local interest in the Men’s main draw will come in the form of Aberdeen’s Chris Leiper. Chris, who is now studying and training in Edinburgh and is on the fringes of the full Scottish Team, was delighted to be awarded a place in the First Round proper. The former ASRC Singles and Doubles Club Champion is looking forward to the week ahead : “ I am very much looking forward to returning to Aberdeen to compete and play against some of the World’s best players on my “home” courts. Like Lisa this is the club where I grew up so hopefully I can make home advantage and a strong vocal support count in my favour!!” – Chris Leiper Over the week there will be 54 matches played at the Mannofield Club culminating with the final on Sunday at 3pm. Alongside the main event is a graded tournament for amateurs which has attracted an entry of around 50 players from all over Scotland who will both wish to compete on court with each other and watch some top quality squash. “Thanks to our sponsor TRAC Oil and Gas, we have been able to secure this event in the calendar almost 1 year in advance.
