NDT Competence – Highest ever recorded

TRAC successfully completed bi-annual NDT trade tests for Chevron.

TRAC has been working with Chevron in the UK for the last 8 years providing Inspection Services for their North Sea assets. Over the years, Chevron has conducted bi-annual trade tests on the TRAC inspectors involved in ultrasonic inspection of their topside pipelines and vessels. Trade tests were recently completed in June 2013 and the TRAC inspectors exceeded expectation by delivering the “highest ever recorded” scores globally, achieving almost 90%.

Stuart Ley, TRAC’s Inspection Manager stated,

“This recent success is down to TRAC’s commitment to and investment in the competence of our workforce. In 2008 & 09, we took an industry lead and developed the first formal Corrosion Awareness training course in conjunction with TWI, which is now an industry recognised CSWIP qualification. We’re very proud of our technicians and the efforts of the delivery team at TRAC  in achieving these results, underlining the confidence that our customers can have in our service provision.”

IMG Composites Lunch & Learn

TRAC Oil and Gas host lunch and learn awareness session with IMG Composites based on issues surrounding Caisson Corrosion

TRAC and IMG Composites Repairs held a demonstration of the latest composite repair system.  Composol Caisson has been engineered and designed to restore structural integrity of caissons and other large diameter pipes suffering from wall thinning caused by internal & external corrosion or mechanical damage. TRAC’s Tommy van Huuksloot stated:
“IMG Composite Repairs and TRAC held a very well attended Lunch and Learn session, to show our clients our close working relationship and our capabilities. IMG Composites held a small presentation on their product(s) and services. To conclude the session IMG and TRAC Technicians applied a wrap to a Caisson like structure whilst on the ropes to show how quickly and easily we can apply the wraps.”
Overall the session was a success and helped promote the awareness of corrosion and the use of composite repairs. If you would like a copy of the presentation material or further information please see below for contact details.

The Giving Tree Appeal 2012

TRAC staff once again supported ‘The Giving Tree’ appeal, run by local Aberdeen Charity—Instant Neighbor. The Charity collect gifts from supporters and distributes them to children whose families are on low incomes across the Aberdeen City and Shire area, in order to give them the Christmas they deserve. Previously, TRAC staff in the Aberdeen office purchased ‘Secret Santa’ gifts for colleagues, however a few years ago they decided the money would be better spent going to a charitable cause. Since then we have raised ever increasing amounts for ‘The Giving Tree’ appeal. Over the years, ‘The Giving Tree’ has grown from strength to strength and has attracted increasing donations from various Oil & Gas operators and service providers such as TRAC. TRAC staff this year personally dug deep for the appeal, and with a company donation matching the amount raised by staff, many toys, games and gadgets will be making their way underneath some appreciative families Christmas trees. Thanks to all those for their generous contributions!

Exhibiting at ONS 2012

TRAC attended and exhibited at ONS 2012 in Stavanger—Norway

The end of August saw TRAC exhibiting at ONS in Stavanger Norway for the first time since 2008. Being part of the Scottish pavilion we gained good exposure to different companies emerging in Norway and were able to establish some good links with the necessary contacts to help with developments in Norway. There were close to 60,000 visitors to the exhibition and a record 1264 companies were exhibiting. Lord Provost of Aberdeen George Adam came to visit us on the Thursday of the exhibition, spending some time discussing TRAC’s development plans and was excited to see a company from Aberdeen very driven to succeed and grow into different countries. ons-2012
