Weekend Technical Seminar

Representatives from ATOs and AQBs got together recently for a weekend seminar to discuss and agree the training and certification processes proposed for the new scheme; Certification of Personnel for In-Service Inspection – Manual Ultrasonic Testing – Via the Modular Route.

The weekend was a mix of information from the Oil & Gas Industry in Aberdeen relative to specific requirements for personnel coming into the Industry and a valuable input from the experienced examiners relative to certification requirements and standards to be applied. There was also time set aside for the practical application of manual ultrasonic techniques to relevant samples. This practical application was in accordance with guidelines proposed by the Industry.

Participating companies and organisations included:

British Institute of NDT, IMechE, Rigmar Training, SGS India, Lavender International, Bilfinger, TWI, ARL, Sonomatic, TRAC Oil & Gas and NDT Limited.

The weekend was organised by Bill Brown, Technical Manager of TRAC Oil & Gas Ltd in conjunction with the British Institute of NDT.

The event was sponsored by TRAC Oil & Gas Ltd and hosted by TWI at their training facility in Aberdeen.

TWI, Rigmar Training and TRAC Oil & Gas all contributed samples and equipment to allow the practical sessions to be informative and relevant.

The outcome was very positive with the representatives agreeing to support the new scheme.

Squash Sponsorship 2015

TRAC was once again headline sponsor of the North of Scotland Open from 31st March to 5th April 2015.

Our sponsorship of The North Of Scotland Open was an excellent opportunity to bring world class squash to the region, raising awareness of the sport in Aberdeen and Scotland as a whole.

The aim is to provide a longer term focus for the growth and development of squash, benefiting the health and wellbeing of our employees and the local community.

This is the second year we have sponsored the event and there has been an increase in high ranking competitors registering. Many top-100 players entered the event, with international visitors and competitors coming from New Zealand, Egypt, Europe, Asia and the UAE.

The competition was exciting to watch with a final that saw Greg Lobban(Sco) beat Joel Hinds(Eng) 3-1 to win.

Squash is a sport enjoyed by many of TRAC’s staff so it was a wonderful to see a high quality competition right on our doorstep.

We are delighted to announce our commitment to sponsor the event for a further 3 years up to 2018.

As part of this sponsorship package, we are contributing to the upgrade of facilities at the Aberdeen Squash & Racquetball Club where the tournament is held, starting with a refurbishment of the Exhibition Court.

Supervisors Course

TRAC technicians in a supervisory role were invited to attend the 3 day course.

The course was delivered by TRAC department heads as well as specially selected guest speakers. Topics covered were areas that supervisors deal with on a daily basis, including Supervision Skills, Project Management, Conflict Resolution and Risk Assessment.

It is important that our teams and supervisors are aware of our core values. We aim to deliver best in class performance and the course was designed with this in mind, ensuring competence and staff development of trained supervisors. The course objectives were achieved as roles and responsibilities of supervisors were covered whilst technicians gave open feedback regarding what they expect from TRAC as an employer.

A teambuilding day was included as a platform for the delegates and speakers to get to know each other, sharing opinions, experiences and commonalities.

TRAC Oil & Gas Compliance Manager, Ian Somers adds;

“We feel that this course was valuable, especially in difficult economic times, because consistency and competence are important in the rope access industry where ad-hoc staffing is commonplace. In our commitment to personal development, we are pleased that the course is being assessed for recognition by the Institute of Leadership & Management.”

The celebratory party held at the beginning of February 2015, marks the official opening of our purpose built operational and training facility in Macaé. Many current customers, potential customers, partners, support providers, suppliers and friends attended the exciting occasion.

The event allowed us to showcase TRACs latest technologies and innovations including rope access and NDT demonstrations.
A presentation was shown to commemorate our recent 15 year anniversary and the evening concluded with a firework display to mark a successful event.

In 2010, TRAC embarked on a business plan focusing on international expansion. We are now a fully established, licensed Brasilian company—TRAC Petróleo e Gás LTDA, committed to supporting the local economy, employing local people and paying local taxes in Brasil. We see an in-country presence and full time office base as essential to this strategy.

Following this expansion, the business is already growing in Brasil. From March 2015 a team of 6 will be working in our office in Macaé and numbers will increase as the business develops further.
